City of Orlando Rec Center Building Material Surveys

AEC teamed with AirQuest Environmental, Inc., another woman-owned small business, to complete limited pre-renovation building material surveys at two sites owned by the City of Orlando. The sites included the Smith Recreation Center located on Bruton Boulevard and the Northwest Community Center location on W.D. Judge Drive in Orlando, Florida. Information provided to AEC revealed that the City intended to renovate the floors in the gymnasiums at both sites. Based on the age of the buildings/building material, pre-renovation surveys for asbestos-containing materials (ACM), lead-based paint (LBP) and mold were completed to assist the City in proper planning for the renovations. No ACM or LBP was identified in samples collected at the project sites. AEC recommended that the City investigate the source of moisture at the Northwest Community Center where water damaged hardwood was observed on the gymnasium floor.>
